Study of the physical properties of soft contact Lens containing antibiotic material and N-Vinyl-2-pyrrolidone

Abstract

|
Purpose : Recently research and development became not only conventional soft contact lens material lens but also functional contact lens. In this study, we manufactured functional contact lens with antimicrobial.
Methods : We mixed AgNO3 with conventional soft contact lens material. And then we copolymerized at 70¡É for about 40 minutes, at 80¡É for about 40 minutes and finally at 100¡É for about 40 minutes by the progress of heat treatment.
Results : In case of physical properties, the results showed 1.502~1.504(refractive index of dry) and 1436~1.445(wet of refractive index), 34.54%~39.03%(water content) and 79.1%~83.8%(visible transmittance).
Conclusions : We copolymerized AgNO3 with conventional soft contact lens material. We judged that we made the copolymer physical properties which is suitable for conventional contact lens.
